Torrance SCAQMD Meeting on MHF Ban
January 20 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
On Saturday, January 20, 2018, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Refinery Committee will host a community meeting to discuss the Proposed Rule 1410 — Hydrogen Fluoride Storage and Use at Petroleum Refineries and other refinery-related topics. The meeting will take place in the Gateway Ballroom at the Holiday Inn on Vermont Avenue in Torrance (see the map below).
The agenda and presentation will soon be available on the Proposed Rule 1410 Webpage.
If you support our cause, please come EARLY – 8 am. Insist on your right to sit in the main room. Wear black shirt, or a TRAA shirt or button if you have one. Even if you can’t stay for the entire meeting, COME. You won’t be alone; we’ll be there together. Let’s show the SCAQMD our concern and support, and our demand for quick effective action.
The refineries require attendance from their paid employees and provide box lunches. The industry front group “Coalition of Energy Users” brings in out-of-town supporters from its email list. We can’t afford to be outnumbered.
There are many more of us than there are of them, but we need to show up, despite personal inconvenience. The SCAQMD was supposed to have come to a decision months ago; we need a ban on MHF implemented NOW!
